It's a Snaaaaaake!: Hey, that Caterpie sure looks familiar, doesn't he?

Also, I realize this entered sort of the same territory as my Fearow page with the "afraid to eat a Pokemon" thing, but with Ekans, you'll see the aftermath and eventually, the reasoning ;)

: Awww! Ekans. <:3c Wait.. Ekans don't eat Caterpie anyway! They eat Rattata!

Reply tveye, December 9th, 2011, 8:05 am

: @Inxerene: I'm sure they're not picky when it comes to meat XD

Reply Inxerene, December 9th, 2011, 8:31 am

: @tveye: But Caterpie don't have meat. ;A;

Reply tveye, December 9th, 2011, 10:04 am

: @Inxerene: We must begin dissections immediately!

: Aha! *shot*

"ROUGH GREEN SNAKES (Opheodrys aestivus) are pencil-thin tree snakes that grow from 1 ½ to 4 feet long. Their backs are green and their bellies are a lighter yellowish green. This snake rarely bites people and is often out during the day. It eats grasshoppers, caterpillars, and spiders. Although it prefers to climb in trees, it can swim well if it needs to." -source http://pelotes.jea.com/AnimalFact/Reptile/nvsnake.htm

Though Ekans isn't based off that snake, but still a snake could eat caterpillars if it so wanted to I suppose XD

: @Pokemontrainergigi: Hehe, awesome!

Pokemon are also very different from their real world counterparts. For all we know, bug Pokemon even have skeletons O_o

: Oooh, colour AND new, pretty buttons?

I love the references to 'mons from previous strips, too.

Reply tveye, December 9th, 2011, 3:11 pm

: @Kiiouex: Glad you like the buttons! I also drew up li'l Pokeballs for the rating system :)

And there will be more returning Pokemon in the future. I feel like a lot of them have more about their lives that need to be shown!

Reply mastokid, December 9th, 2011, 5:58 pm

: I like how you made the "first" button bulbasaur, who is the first in the pokedex and the "last" mew who is the last one in the pokedex.

Maybe ekans is just full from eating all the pikachu?

Reply tveye, December 9th, 2011, 6:11 pm

: @mastokid: Glad you noticed, and don't be silly! Ekans can look everywhere in Viridian Forest, but Caterpie's are easier to find than Pikachu's ;)

: Did the Butterfree make him nervous?

Reply tveye, December 9th, 2011, 7:10 pm

: @kirbypuff: Look closely at what the Butterfree's holding. The importance of this little interaction will be explained in a future page ;)

Reply CityBreak, December 10th, 2011, 8:15 am

: oh... I just realised that his name backwords is snake

Reply tveye, December 10th, 2011, 12:03 pm

: @CityBreak: Yup! Ekans backwards is snake and Arbok is k(c)obra :)

There are a lot of hidden meanings behind the names of Pokemon. It's interesting to look 'em all up XD

: This comic's interesting.
Can people understand the pokemon language? I can't tell for sure.
By the way, awhile ago, I thought of a possibility for a pokemon related rating system. I think it would work well with your comic, if you're interested. (but you probably like what you have now. ^_^" )

Reply tveye, December 10th, 2011, 4:02 pm

: @Asj: No, the Pokemon have their own language. When the people can understand what the Pokemon says, then there is no need to have them talk in "Pokenese" (Bulbasaur and Ivysaur), but when the person is assuming what the Pokemon says based on body language, then there is a translation (Ratatta).

And I'm open to all ideas :)
Send me a message with your rating system.

: "Ekans" is SNAKE spelt backward, not Anaconda.
